More Valentine Cards... Friendship Bracelet & Monster Truck

We are cutting it a little close with the classroom Valentine inspiration over here, but this is what we came up with this year for Janie (3rd grader) and Callen (Pre-K) to hand out to their classmates.

Our school district discourages candy given in Valentine’s Day (or Friendship Day, as it is referred to in our school) because of concerns over allergies which is valid, but it also makes it a little more challenging to give come up with creative Valentine’s Day cards. Let’s just say we have given a lot of pens and pencils through the years and were looking to branch out. Luckily my daughter has really gotten into making friendship bracelets with some embroidery floss she received as a gift. She was determined to make one for every kid in her class and put a lot of effort into doing so. I wanted to find the right card to go with them but also contained a design Janie liked. There are some fun ones on Etsy to purchase and cut out, but with her help I played around with a graphics purchased at the Silhouette Design Store on my Silhouette Design Studio software and came up with this fun rainbow design that says “Our class would knot be the same without you”. We added Janie’s name to personalize them (she is beyond needing the practice writing her name, unlike my 4 year old) and then she used a small hole punch to string the bracelets through the card.

Callen wanted to use these monster truck erasers that we found at Target. These exact erasers are no longer available online, but are similar to the ones that can be purchased here. We paired the erasers with a bright and colorful monster truck printable valentine card that we purchased from Southern Twist Designs. I printed the designs and cut them out. On some of them, the box was a little small for him to write his name so I wrote it for him on the front and he wrote it on the back. He loved putting the erasers in the small craft bags and stapling them to the card. Creating 16 cards took less than an hour and was a fun activity to do together.

Here are a few options from past years. I used designs from the Silhouette store and used the print and cut feature to make theses designs.

Cindy put together the cutest little “I Like you a Bot” Valentines last year. Visit this blog post to read about the Valentine printables and for the links to the bags and robots.
