Valentine Charcuterie
Charcuterie Boards are having a big moment and we are loving all the creative ways that others have managed to create beautiful displays that are almost too pretty to eat. A few weeks ago Cindy’s family joined my family on the Oregon Coast for a little change of scenery. While we were there, we created this fun little Valentine Charcuterie Treat Board for our families to enjoy.
Cindy purchased this Acacia wood tray at Target as well as many of the sweet treats used in this platter. They include:
Hostess Valentine Ding Dongs
Cinnamon Hearts
Cherry Gummy Hearts
Conversation Hearts
Reses Valentine Treats - In Pink & Chocolate
Pocky Sticks
Valentine Hershey Kisses
Trader Joe’s Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies
Jolly Rancher Valentine Jelly Beans
Gobstopper Hearts
Valentine Nerd Ropes
Sour Patch Hearts
Valentine Jelly Beans
At the center we placed an awesome Geometric Hot Chocolate Bomb
The best part about creating a charcuterie board is that there are not a lot of rules. With this one, we wanted to use a Valentine color scheme and therefore a lot of the treats are also heart shaped but that isn’t necessary. The edible elements can be laid out any way that looks pleasing to your eye. We places small groupings around the center heart. I think that the main impact of the charcuterie concept is to portray abundance so I like to pile the ingredients high and include at least 6-7 different groupings.
If we would have been at home when we made this, we might have incorporated some heart shape dishes to give the board a different shape, but we were a little limited and just built the design around a heart made out of nerd ropes in the middle.
When our kiddos came back from a walk on the beach, this was waiting for them! They were so excited to enjoy some of the treats.
