NYE 2021 - So Long 2020!
Happy New Year!!! Welcome 2021!
It’s Davis & Scout… or actually Scout (Clara) & Davis!
For the past few months our families have been very careful about social distancing. Because we have not been leaving the house much, for our sanity, and our kiddos, we have been getting our families together regularly. Our friendships and all the time we have been able to spend together over the past year has been a bright spot in a otherwise crummy year for social interactions.
In the past, we have spent several New Year Eve’s together. Typically they are casual, but this year we had a desire to send 2020 out in as grand way while still staying home. When Shane (Cindy’s husband) suggested we dress up, we decided to run with it!!
At first Cindy came up with this amazing balloon display. I love the cluster style and the use of chrome balloons. Over the past year, Cindy has collected a lot of disco balls so of course they had to be part of the NYE celebrations and will hopefully pop up in future events over the next year.
We decided to hang the number “2021” from the balloon arch and then added tinsel streamers to create a full backdrop look. The arch along looked lovely in person and would be more functional for a house party where you were serving food or setting up a beverage bar, but making a solid backdrop the way we ended up seemed to photograph better and broke up the kitchen.
Our kids are all big fans of fondue! This party was really to make family memories for them, so we created a fun spread that was delicious but catered to their less sophisticated pallets. A mild Gruyere fondue with fruits, veggies, meats, bread to dip. Dessert was a chocolate fondue with cookies, fruit and marshmallows to dip. Along with a few other snacks, the spread ended up being a lot of food for our two families but it was fun to indulge as we celebrated.

Whenever possible, we use Qualatex balloons because they are easy to work with, have great colors and are biodegradable. Here are links to the balloons that we used for this arch. It would work great for a graduation event as well! Click on photos below for ordering information.
