Taco TWOsday Party! Blair Turns 2!!
Our friend, little Miss Blair turned two with the most adorable Taco TWOsday themed Birthday party. The celebration was small, a taco bar dinner party with just close family in attendance. Everyone was incredibly excited to celebrate this sweet kid that they absolutely love and adore.
Karlie, Blair’s Mom had the fun idea for the Taco TWOsday themed party. The theme was fitting because their family loves tacos and pre-covid would host rotating Taco Tuesday dinners every week with friends in their neighborhood.
Karlie wanted the party to be bright and fun to match Blair’s vibrant personality. We focused on two main areas to decorate, a photo backdrop and a dessert table. We came up with colorful fringe backdrops, an oversized #2 with brightly colored balloons and oversized honeycomb balls and balloons scattered around on the floor.
For the backdrop, we ordered 10’ long fringe in multiple colors to layer and overlap across the wall. I’m a huge fan of Glamfete on Etsy for their fringe backdrops. Their products are well made and they have amazing customer service. The fringe used for Blair’s party was a custom order. The colors used were coral, pink, yellow and turquoise. We also draped the hot pink fringe across the dessert table to add texture and tie the two areas together.
The #2 balloon mosaic is approx 5’ tall and handmade from template found at The Creative Heart Studio. The mosaics are made with sturdy board and hot glue and take around 4 hours to make. If you don’t want to make your own mosaic, The Creative Heart Studio sells 30” kits in numbers and letters. To create a large mosaic you will need: sturdy board (2), low temp glue gun and glue to adhere the balloons inside, cutting mat, a sharp cutting blade like a box cutter or xacto knife and balloons (in 5” and 11”). To learn how to make one, the best instructions come with the digital download when you order the template and they have helpful videos on their website. They also provide you with a supply list of what is needed.
The honeycomb balls were a fun addition to the backdrop and dessert table. I purchased the ones for this party from the Oh Happy Day Party Shop. I bought varying sizes, shapes and colors to add the little extra fun touch to the vibe of the party.
The Taco cake was certainly the hit of the party. I can honestly it was the CUTEST cake I’ve ever seen. I ordered the cake at Lydia’s Cakes And Confections and the cookies from Amy’s Cookies. Luckily both women work in the same bakery and were able to collaborate on the cookies for the top of the cake. Amy and Lydia did an amazing job making the adorable cookies and cake!
We were inspired by blogger Twinkle Twinkle Little Party for her adorable Valentine’s Day Taco party. If you love Blair’s party, you must check out Twinkle Twinkle’s party as well. Its absolutely precious.
The Blair sign is made out of a 4X4 piece of plywood that we cut into a circle, painted pink and then added the gold vinyl lettering. We lined the top of the sign with a mix of small honeycomb balls and balloons in varying sizes.
My friend Mandy is incredibly talented at making tiny adorable charms out of polymer clay. I told her I was working on a Taco TWOsday party with little taco’s with smiley faces on them for the decor and I could see her wheels turning while I talked. She happily made 8 little detailed taco charms as part of the goodie bags for Blair’s cousins. The kids LOVED the little charms! They were so excited to attach them to their backpacks when they got home from the party, an absolute hit! The special detailed touch of the charms made a huge impact. I keep telling Mandy she should open an Etsy shop and maybe one day she will but until then, you can find Taco charms here. I found the adorable avocado “Thank You” printable tag on Etsy.
I always enjoy collaborating with Karlie on her parties, she’s incredibly creative, fun to work with and is never afraid to get her hands dirty. This little party for Blair was certainly an extra special event celebrating an amazing kid. I’m so glad I was able to take part in their special day!
