Throwback... Comic Book Superhero 1st Birthday

Sweet Jensen will soon be celebrating his 8th Birthday! It is hard to believe but thought it would be a fun trip down memory lane to look back to his 1st birthday party that we celebrated with a Super Hero theme. This was one of Cindy’s first kids theme parties and she did a great job transforming their home for the celebration. Looking back I remember how much fun the kids all had playing in their capes!

Since this party was quite a few years ago, it is a challenge to link up exact party products but we’ve found some very similar ones to link below and all of the craft projects could be replicate. The best idea being all the black boxes wrapped in black butcher paper and embellished with yellow rectangles and squares to look create building in a comic book looking city scape. Cindy used a similar technique to create a city skyline on blue poster board in the background.

I used some clip art that we purchased on Etsy and a design in the Silhouette design studio to make the personalized super hero designs and the Super Jensen design in the banner and cupcake toppers.

There are fun cape printables on Etsy to create these but these were made with the Hero Lollipop design on a Silhouette electronic cutter found in the Silhouette Design Store.

The adorable clothesline banner is an easy DIY fitting for any 1st birthday celebration.

I created the Jensen superhero logo on his onesie by layering fabric shapes that were cut with my Silhouette electronic cutter using the iron on fabric adhesive and then sticking the pieces on after they were in place.

Even Gretel got in on the celebration with her own super hero cape!

The poster board city scheme backdrop was something Cindy created freehand and the Happy Birthday banner was one I created using my Silhouette electronic cutter. I love how she layered them here!

The kids all got to pick out their super help cape and then select their own felt super hero mask and belt to embellish. It was adorable to hear all of the fun super power ideas that they came up with!

Using black and white as a background and then keeping a tight color scheme of blue red and yellow helped the party decorations come together cohesively.

While not all of the party products are still available, below we’ve linked (in photos) some awesome products that will help you achieve your own comic book or super hero party look.

Check. out some of Jensen’s parties from other years. Plus stay tuned for what we are working on to celebrate him this year!!
