Santa Favor Boxes
Paper crafting is my happy place! Even if life feels busier than ever in our household, trying to juggle 3 kids in distance learning, finish a home remodel project that was scheduled pre-pandemic, and trying to make the holiday season feel special from inside our own home, I find myself gravitating toward crafting to manage (avoid, maybe?) my stress. I don’t make a lot of trips out for supplies, so I get excited about projects that are easily made with paper like these adorable Santa Treat Boxes from Amy Robison in the Silhouette Design store.
This project only requires 3 colors that can customized if you want the box, Santa’s suit, or skin tone to be different than mine. With some glue and a little planning the layout for this craft, it goes together easily and is fun to fill! I filled mine with candy for the kiddos!
I added these Santa treat boxes to my holiday kitchen table set up, which includes a few new items along with some of my favorites that I have collected through the years.
From Target, I found the faux flocked trees, the North Pole Trading Co. sign, the Merry Christmas iron lettering, and mini white & gold frame. The fuzzy ball garland and mercury glass votive holders are also Target finds with many potential use options. I fell in love with these red plaid and holly berry melamine plates which are a great size and nice, thick material that makes them feel nicer than most melamine plates, but also super kid friendly. I added some plain dish clothes opened in the center of the table to add some color without a full tablecloth. I struggle keeping a tablecloth clean, maybe even worse than my kiddos and so the bare table makes it more casual, but also much easier to wipe down.
For the paper products, I found these Meri Meri plates and matching napkins at Marshalls. They were from a previous season, but their products are adorable and bring a lot of style to a table. I also like how they pair with the plaid melamine plates.
One of our family favorites are the mini glass mugs from Crate & Barrel. I bought them when Scout was a toddler because they were cute but only bought a set of four. Now I wish I had bought 8 for how often they are used! Through the years, these mini mugs are the perfect size for evening hot cocoa for our kids . They offer plenty but are manageable for their small hands. Now that Scout is 12, I contemplated buying some new holiday mugs because there are so many cute options this year, but think we will make do with these that carry so many special hot cocoa memories a little longer.
On the wall, I dug out an old red wreath and created some simple wall art with Silhouette designs from the Silhouette Design Store. The Santa Face design just needed the “ho, ho ho” added and then I changed out the colors on the “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” sign before printing, but once they were trimmed to size and placed in the frame they add to the holiday wall display nicely. If you do not have a Silhouette, or prefer to just buy some art, check out the links below for some lovely options from Etsy.
The “Merry wreath wood art was a Walmart find for about $6, although I later learned they had a similar one that said “Jingle” which would have been even cuter and less redundant in this collection.
