Aloha Hawaiian Bridal Shower

Aloha Hawaiian Bridal Shower

We had the honor of doing the decorations for a Hawaiian themed bridal shower recently and it was so much fun! The event was for a small group, but the hostess has a lovely outdoor space where we were able to set up the event.

We used personalized signage from SimplySweetDesigns to welcome guests. The print was made at Costco photo and then we mounted the sign on foam board and added a mini balloon garland with tropical greenery.

The hostess was very open to all of our suggestions but liked the idea of doing something beyond the typical cake for dessert. We suggested using the donut wall and adding custom vinyl and a balloon garland decorate the wall. Additionally, to carry out the Hawaiian theme we had custom yellow donuts make from Legendary Doughnuts and added paper toppers that I made using my Silhouette Cameo (pineapple cupcake design from Amy Robison) electronic cutter. I had already made these for pineapple cupcakes at a Hawaiian Hula Party a few years back, so making them for the donuts was easy.

In the decorations, I aimed to use playful and tropical colors with Polynesian inspired textures to create a Hawaiian vibe, without being too juvenile or cheesy. I could some inspiration for the event in these adorable tropical napkins from Meri Meri. I continued to the decor in shades of pink and yellow with lots of faux tropical greenery and added woven and woods.

The balloons were a “must have” for this event. We decided to use the round ring stand and add balloons in a varied garland asymmetrically. This photographed wonderfully with the well-manicured lawn in the background. To get this balloon color combination, I started by purchasing two kids balloon kits from Gustalife on Amazon. The kit had a nice blend of blushes, white, pinks, fuchsia, and yellows. I then supplemented the garland with Tuftex coral, Tuftex blush, Qualatex lemon chiffon, Qualatex blush, Qualatex coral and Qualatex rose. Some of the colors were very similar once inflated but the slight variations helped the colors come together more cohesively. I also found that the kits didn’t come with as many 5 inch balloons as we like to work with so most of the added balloons were in the 5 inch size.

Candela’s Artisan Treats created these adorable Hawaiian themed cookies for the event. I love the pineapples, hibiscus flowers and palm leaves. Her work is fantastic and delicious!

For the floral, we wanted to do a tropical, Hawaiian vibe without having to order expensive Hawaiian flowers. The hostess also requested that we stay away from lilies for allergy reasons, so we purchased some faux stems from Ling’s Moments Artificial Flowers in both foam and silk. I added faux orchid stems and then purchased bright colored fresh roses from Costco to create arrangements that I added faux stems and greenery too. I finished the arrangements off with a few foam plumeria blossoms that I hot glued to wire and stuck into wet oasis. For less that $100, I was able to create 3 lovely floral pieces that carried the color scheme.

We found some mid range faux greenery leis on Amazon for guests to wear and then added a framed printable sign from DIY Party Studio, design linked below. On of my favorite party elements was the gold pineapples! There are a lot of fun ones to buy, but I decided to see how well a pineapple would take spray paint. I learned they would coat pretty well and they turned into a favorite element of the decor.

We created this lovely balloon garland that attached to the railing by the outdoor seating with the left over balloons from the balloon backdrop. I love how balloons instantly jazz up any space!

My husband created this donut wall a few years back for our daughter’s 12th birthday and we have put it to good use several times since. I used my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine to create the custom vinyl at the top of the donut wall.

The photo backdrop was just the balloon circle, but these fun Hawaiian photo props make the photo booth playful for guests.

This tropical photo frame came with the prop kit. It had to be mounted to a piece of foam board that I purchased from Dollar Tree.

I added fun “Mahalo” tags to some of the bagged cookies from Candela’s Sweet Treats so that guests could take them to go. Additionally the hostess found these adorable mini honey favors that say “Meant to Bee” from White Confetti Box.

We didn’t set a formal sit down table for this shower, but we think that these elements make a lovely tablescape when paired with floral and an airy, blush table runner and woven elements. Octagon dusky pink plates & palm leaf napkins are by Meri Meri. They are both disposable but have design worthy of a lovely vintage wine glass.
