40th Birthday Floral Decor

40th Birthday Floral Decor

Since big celebratory bashes and events are not really happening these days due to the pandemic, we are having to pivot a bit with our planning to smaller or socially distanced affairs. Such was the case with the 40th birthday of a dear friend of mine who just turned 40. While the big party was postponed, a small group of close friends were able to gather to celebrate. The plan came about fairly last minute as our specific county transitioned phases allowing a small gathering. And while the party was small, we wanted our birthday girl to feel just as special and loved.

Here is what I pulled together last minute:

Brooke’s favorite color was coral so we used that as inspiration and found this adorable, editable & printable floral banner on Etsy from Darcy’s Parties. I printed the individual pieces at 50% size and with out any letter customization. I used my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine to add letters with coral paper. There is an option to edit the lettering before printing that would make the project even easier, but I really wanted to play up the coral color. I used black & white crafters twine to string the banner in three pieces so that we could hang it on her mantle in a three tiers.

Our Dollar Tree store has opened up and so I was able to pop in there to pick up the gold pinwheels and pink tissue paper puffs as well as the rose gold plates and straws. Not included was a fun rose gold polka dot streamer that coordinated.

I picked up the faux coral colored flowers and flower cake topper pics from Michaels crafts. While the are deigned to used together on a cake, we adapted them for the mini bunt cakes for Covid concerns. The black and white striped runner was reused from both the Lush Spa Party and the Preschool Graduation but paired with the flowers and pinks has a completely different look. The gold “40” cake topper was left over from my own 40th birthday cake.

We tried to surprise Brooke with the decorations at the cabin although we didn’t have much time to set up anything elaborate. All the party elements ended up being easy to transport and set up quickly. When she walked into the room with banners, balloons and some decor, it felt like a party, and instantly it seemed to bring her a lot of joy.

We also surprised our sweet friend with a balloon column porch display. I purchased this set of pastel balloons, white pearly balloons and then this kit to make balloon columns. Then I used a printable from CMCraft Studio on Etsy to create the cut out decorations with a champagne theme. This was my first experience creating this style of balloon art. For the most part, it was easy to use with the clips that came in the set. In the future I will plan to inflate the balloons less and maybe use 4 smaller balloons for each tier. I think that would make it fill in the gaps better and help the overall look of the balloon column, but this product allows you to create a bold look without a great deal of skill.

When I showed up on Brooke’s porch with this on the morning of her 40th birthday, fixings for mimosas, she was happily surprised.
