Snow White Birthday Party
I recently had the opportunity to create and install a Snow White balloon garland for a wonderful birthday girl named Brooklyn. Her Mother, Wendy told me that she loves to create beautiful spreads for parties and had planned out a gorgeous themed tablescape as well as fun activities to celebrate her daughters special day. Being the party lover that I am, I couldn’t wait to see what she had put together and she sure did not disappoint! Wendy has graciously allowed us to feature Brooklyn’s magical birthday party and all of the elements she put together here on the Davis & Scout blog to help inspire others who are looking to host a Snow White party of their own.
Wendy had a strong vision for the tablescape which included a beautiful Snow White themed cake. It just so happens her sister, Carolyn is a talented baker and made the stunning cake, cupcakes and cake pops served at the party. To see more of Carolyn’s tasty creations you can find her on instagram @Blonde.and.buttercream. There was also a brightly colored candy buffet filled with red, gold, white and blue treats.
Wendy’s friend, Donna who owns @donutscookiesandcakes made the most adorable (and perfect) Snow White themed cookies that were given to guests as part of the party favors.
Other party favors included an apple packed full of candy as well as a lip balm. I love this because the candy container is perfect for re-using and storing jewelry or other prized possessions young kids have.
An extra special guest attended the party, Snow White herself. While I was putting up the balloon garland before the party, I overheard Brooklyn asking her Mom every few moments how long until Snow White was to arrive. She was anxiously counting down the minutes to meet her favorite princess. Wendy hired Snow White through Seattle Princess Party, a local company who have a variety of different characters to choose from for parties. Wendy said the best part is, when you hire a professional princess/character, they do all the entertaining with the kids and are great at keeping them occupied and having fun. Well worth it!
For the balloon garland we went with the classic Snow White colors of yellow, blue, red and white. I used qualatex brand balloons in sizes 5”, 11” and a few 16” (for the base). We like Qualatex balloons because their balloons are high quality, have a great assortment of colors and best of all, are biodegradable. I prefer to hand tie balloon garlands and not use a balloon strip. Its soo much easier to do and it looks 100x’s better. Hand tying the balloons does take some slight getting used to but once you have the hang of it, you will never use a balloon garland strip kit again. We have instructions on hand crafting balloon garland here or you can check out one of the thousands of how to videos out there on youtube. You will also need some fishing line, scissors and balloon glue dots, all linked below.
The party and set up was knocked out of the park! Wendy did an amazing job, no detail was overlooked and Brooklyn had a magical party that I am sure she will remember her entire life! Thanks, Wendy and Brooklyn for letting me help you celebrate and feature your party on our blog!
Did you know there is a balloon shortage in 2020? Because of this balloons are more expensive and harder to find than they usually are. Linked below are balloons found on Amazon which generally has had all of the colors I have needed over the year but the prices are clearly inflated. You may be able to find them for a better price on the Bargain Balloons website and can use Amazon as your backup. If possible source and order your balloons at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure you have what you need in time.
For the balloon garland you will want 1 pack of 11” and 1 pack of 5” balloons in each of the colors below and 1 pack 16” in one of these colors to create a strong wide base (optional). To create a 12-15’ garland you will use at least (25) 11’ balloons in each color and (40-60) in 5” balloons in each color. You will want an air pump, trust us. We prefer the electric pump but the handheld pumps work well too.
